Our story

EV charging is a modern and complex story whether for personal or commercial use, and is typically one that is unneccessarily expensive regardless of the use case. Inflo seeks to rewrite this environment, giving sites of every size the infrastructure they need to run their own network without handing economics to middle-men or profiteers.

The company started life in 2021 as Square Up Charging, a consumer tool built to help households and small groups fairly split the cost of a shared charge point. The platform worked and served as a great test bed for technology, but the more people used it the clearer the wider problem became to the team. Commercial operators were being pushed into expensive, locked-in software contracts long before their first kilowatt ever moved, and drivers were footing the bill for that margin.

divergent invested in 2024 to back a significant shift in the platform starting from the bottom. Square Up Charging became Inflo, a hardware-agnostic back office and smart energy platform, OCPP-compatible end to end, engineered to scale from a single home charger to a multinational’s entire estate without the performance cliff and high costs that plague legacy and other typical VC-led platforms.

The commercial model is where Inflo draws the clearest line against the incumbents. No setup fees. No per-charger monthly fee. No cap on how many chargers a site can operate. Inflo only earns when a charger earns. For operators, that means deploy-now economics instead of months of contract negotiation. For drivers, it means the cost of charging stays tethered to the cost of electricity, not to someone else’s software margin.

Fromt he charger itself, Inflo takes the approach of tying all matters of energy together in to Smart Energy. Our Control Centre lets operators charge less when the grid is green and prices are low, our pricing model allows providers of all sizes to get started and scale with zero penalty, and its leadership is passionate to expand and disrupt the market. This is what makes Inflo a true divergent company. The electrons were never the difficult piece of the puzzle, it was the commercial model and ability to innovate, the parts that we back wholeheartedly.
